Regulated Health Professions Act Receives Royal Assent
On November 9, 2023 the much-anticipated Nova Scotia Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) received Royal Assent. The new Act will replace 22 separate profession-specific acts in exchange for a single act that codifies the legislative requirements common to all provincial health regulators. The uniqueness of each profession will be enshrined in new regulations and further detailed in revised bylaws.
The NS Department of Health and Wellness is rapidly proceeding with implementation. The NSCCT will continue to work with the DHW and through the NS Regulated Health Professions Network to make migration under the RHPA go as smoothly as possible. NSCCT has already begun to prepare for migration and more information about anticipated time-lines will be shared as it becomes available.
